Spotify Free: Nutzer klagen über Malware-Probleme (Update)

Im Forum von Spotify mehrten sich Mitte dieser Woche die Hinweise darauf, dass es Probleme mit der werbefinanzierten Variante von Spotify namens Spotify Free gäbe. So berichtet e hier ein Nutzer, dass Spotify Free seit einiger Zeit statt einer Werbe-Anzeige im Browser eine Malware-infizierte Website öffne. Teilweise seien die betreffenden Seiten so gefährlich, dass sich eine Malware ohne Zutun des Nutzers auf dem Windows-PC installieren könne. Den Beiträgen anderer Nutzer zufolge schien das Problem mit Spotify Free nicht auf Windows begrenzt zu sein.

Spotify hatte umgehend eine Untersuchung eingeleitet und das Ergebnis liegt nun vor. Man habe das Problem identifizieren können, heißt es in der Mitteilung von Spotify. Von dem Problem sei eine “kleine Zahl” an Nutzern betroffen gewesen. Das Problem und die Gründe für dieses Problem seien aber beseitigt worden.

We’ve identified an issue where a small number of users were experiencing a problem with questionable website pop-ups in their default browsers as a result of an isolated issue with an ad on our Free tier. We have now identified the source of the problem and have shut it down. We will continue to monitor the situation. If you see this issue again, please let us know the exact date and time in this thread.
